Texas 87 Cycle’s historic buildings have a unique history unto themselves. the properTy occupies 1106, 1108, & 1110 39th street in galveston. You might notice we said buildings? Yes, the building at 1106, (main showroom and workshop today) was originally built as “W.D. Cleveland & Sons Transfer Garage.” John A. Dickson the Owner Built it in 1929. the building was used as Garage and office for W. D. Cleveland & Sons transfer. years Later, it was used for storage of stock of tobaccos, then as an electrical supply shop. By 1949 it was converted to a 24hr restaurant/café serving workers in the area.
The building at 1110 39TH STREET was Built About 1916 AS a One-story frame structure elevated 8’ over enclosed garage. The lower “garage” became K&L Bicycle shop in 1949.
